SSA Awarded U12 DA Status

Southern Soccer Academy are pleased to announce that we have been granted US Development Academy status for our U12 boys program beginning Fall 2016!

SSA is part of an exclusive group of clubs in the U.S. accepted into this prestigious U.S. Soccer-sponsored elite player program. SSA's U12 DA program will help develop individual players at a critical age as a means to progress them along the existing US Soccer developmental pathway with the aim of producing MLS and US Men's National Team program players. With SSA's continued relationship with Georgia United and their relationship with the new MLS franchise Atlanta United, we are looking forward to providing our players with seamless access to the highest levels of coaching and game play all the way through the U18 age group.

Southern Soccer Academy Director of Coaching, Simon Davey, said "To be awarded US Development Academy status is a fantastic achievement for us! Credit to all our Academy staff for achieving such high standards and to the Board of Directors for their continual backing. We now look forward to maintaining these high standards in what is an exciting period for SSA!"

Development Academy Background:

Following a comprehensive review of elite player development in the United States and around the world, U.S. Soccer created the Developmental Academy in 2007 for male players in the U-15 to U-18 age groups. In 2013, the Academy expanded to include the U13/U14 age group, which has continued to improve development by setting standards and improving the everyday environment for players and clubs. To date, the academy has been the leader in developing players in the U.S. with thousands of alumni moving on to play college soccer, 116 Academy graduates currently rostered in the MLS and 14 Academy players earning USMNT caps.
