REGISTRATION FOR 2008 SPRING SEASON

Dates for the 2008 Spring Soccer Registrations have been set. Registrations will be at the Schererville Town Hall, 10 East Joliet Street (across from the Police Station) on Wednesday, January 23rd from 6-8PM and on Saturday, January 26th from 10AM-1PM.

INSTRUCTIONAL (IN-HOUSE) LEAGUE

IN-PERSON In-house registration is $55.00 per player cash or check (includes Team jersey).

Register ON-LINE for In-house at www.scherervillesoccer.org (FOR INSTRUCTIONAL PLAYERS ONLY - 1/7 through 1/26) *** AND RECEIVE A $10.00 DISCOUNT ***. On-Line registration is only $45.00. YOU MUST PAY BY CREDIT CARD ONLINE AND AGREE TO ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS. See our website for details.

REC-PLUS (TRAVEL) LEAGUE

The cost for Travel Registration is $100.00 per player ($55 Registration + $45 Uniform), cash or check, which includes a NEW MANDETORY Schererville Travel uniform. FOR THE SPRING 2008 SEASON, ALL TRAVEL PLAYERS MUST PURCHASE A NEWLY DESIGNED TRAVEL UNIFORM. The old SSC uniforms are no longer available so a mandatory switch is necessary for all players.

Sorry, due to the additional paperwork that is needed, online registration is not available for Rec-Plus (Travel) players. Travel players must register in person.

We will be posting and distributing additional information as we normally do prior to registration via school flyers, outdoor banners, e-mails, phone line (864-3941), and our web page.

SSC recommends that you register early. We may have to number the registrations in case we do not get enough coaching volunteers to form the number of teams we need for the amount of players that sign up. We may have to limit the number of players.

PARENTS !!! Our need for assistance grows each season! Please give thought to coaching a team or assisting with board duties. Check the appropriate box at registration. Our constant growth means we risk the possibility of limiting player registrations if we cannot get enough participation and volunteers. No experience necessary, we will have coach training clinics before practice starts!!

BOARD POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Want to help keep the Schererville Soccer Club one of North West Indiana’s Premier Soccer Clubs? We still have a couple of positions available for the 2008 Board Of Directors. We have and opening for a Co-Director of Special Events and a Co-Director of Indoor Soccer. Call or e-mail us for more info. Board Members are dedicated to not just make a difference for their child(ren) but to make a difference for all of the children that are members of the SSC. Being a Board Members offers a great deal of satisfaction when you see the end results of over 1200 players out on the fields playing together in a sport they love. THANKS TO OUR VOLUNTEERS

In addition to Board Members, each season we get hundreds of volunteer coaches, asst. coaches, and team parents. Some of our volunteers take on double or triple duty (board member & coaching, coaching a team for each of their children, coaching one child & assisting for another, etc.). Thanks to their dedication we are able to form the necessary teams for our children without having to turn players away. Sometimes we don’t get enough volunteers; sometimes we get more than we need. If you have volunteered and were not selected, please understand we also appreciate you being there in case you were needed and encourage you to continue to volunteer since positions can change each season.

We should also Thank the families of our volunteers. We appreciate your support with the time and effort each of our volunteers has to dedicate to our players. Some family members end up getting ‘drafted’ to helping support the club and perform vital roles anonymously behind the scenes (especially Board Member spouses). Our Club relies on volunteers to be successful. WE GREATLY APPRECIATE ALL OF OUR VOLUNTEERS.

Hopefully the smiles you see on the player’s faces and the laughs you hear as they are out on the field playing soccer lets you know just how appreciated you are.

LIGHTNING & THUNDER POLICY

The Lightning Detectors that SSC donated to the Town of Schererville, Parks and Recreations for Stephens Park and Rohrman Park are installed and operational. The Town of Schererville has passed a Town Ordinance that states park visitors must clear the park when the predictors are in alarm mode indicated by the strobe light flashing on the unit or be subject to a fine.

PLEASE NOTE: THE SSC LIGHTNING AND THUNDER POLICY IS STILL IN AFFECT. THE PARKS LIGHTNING PREDICTOR GUIDELINES WILL BE IN ADDITION TO OUR EXISTING POLICY! We must still follow our exiting policy to keep in compliance with the SAY’s inclement weather policies and in case of a mechanical or electrical failure of the predictor.

FUND RAISING

Schererville Soccer Club has always prided itself on not having mandatory fundraisers that put pressure on its players and parents to sell something. We want our members to do what they signed up to do, Play Soccer.

However, from time to time we do offer programs to help raise money that are passive in nature. We will host selective events and ask for your support. If you can help, we appreciate it, but it is not mandatory and there is no pressure to our players or their parents.

Player Decals

At this time SSC continues to offer personalized player decals for your vehicles (or whatever else you may want to stick it to) at the beginning of each season. We had seen them around for other sports and thought it would be something nice to offer our members.

As long as there is a demand, and we have enough volunteers, we will attempt to offer the player decals each season.
