Dear Soccer Parents,
My name is *******, and I will be coaching your child
this Spring. My **son/daughter** and I are looking forward to a
fun season together.
Our practices are on Mondays and Fridays, 6:15pm-7:15pm
starting on April 2nd. Practices are at Stephen Park in Schererville
near Watson/Grimmer school and next to the Greek Orthodox Church.
Meet at the PARK PAVILLION for our first practice.
Please note that NO EARRINGS or any type of jewelry
or casts can be worn during games. Children must bring a #4 soccer
ball and water bottle to practice. Players must wear shinguards
to practices and games, no exceptions. If your child has spike shoes,
be sure that they are soccer shoes and not baseball or football
shoes which are illegal. (I will explain at practice) Have your
child dress appropriately for the weather.
Our team color is ******. Our team name will be the
********.
In case of rain during a practice day, I encourage
parents to use their own judgement. Soccer games are played in the
rain. A light rain or drizzle should not affect practice. Saturday
games are cancelled by the U10 commissioner ONLY. I will call you
if a game is cancelled. Always show up on game day AT LEAST 15 minutes
early. Please call me if you know your child will not be able to
attend a game!!!
The team Mom will coordinate the treats for game days.
Your child needs YOU to improve and practice his or
her soccer skills. Have your child practice skills learned at practice
with a family member or friend. Make sure the experience is enjoyable
for all. I only spend, at most, 2 hours directing practice for your
child and that is not sufficient to master the skills presented
without some soccer "play" at home.
The Spring season is designed to be instructional.
There is no tournament. It is designed to be non-competitive. There
are approximately 18 practices and 5 games this spring and we will
be using our practices to learn what to do and the game days will
be treated as an exhibition of the skills that they are learning.
This means that I will not be one of those coaches who yell and
scream at the kids on game day. My job on game day will be to make
sure that playtime is shared among all players and in varied positions.
I will watch your children play and design practice sessions to
address areas that need improvement. On game day I need you and
anyone you bring to positively encourage all players on the field,
and behave in a manner that exemplifies good sportsmanship. Please
limit sideline comments to positive words of encouragement to all
players, even if they are on the other team. Attached is a copy
of the parents/spectator code of conduct that you received at registration.
If you need to make negative or corrective comments about the game
or players, please see me after the game or give me a call later.
If you happen to witness poor behavior on the fields
by other adults, coaches or referees, please let me know. The Schererville
Soccer Club takes the codes of conduct for each seriously and violations
can lead to disciplinary action.
I need your help to make game days and practices fun
for all.
Thank you,
