How to use stripers
- Shake up can of paint until you hear the metal ball inside
the can moving
freely and easily.
- The can of paint gets inserted in to a funnel looking
cup in the middle of the striper. The hole in the cup is
usually oblong and the tip of the paint can is wide to fit
in the oblong shape. Make sure the hole at the end of the
cup is open. Sometimes paint clogs the opening.
- Squeezing the handle of the striper should force the rod
down on the bottom of the can of paint, pushing it down and
forcing it to spray out the bottom.
- Letting the handle go should stop the spraying of paint
but be cautious, sometimes it sticks and keeps spraying.
- When spraying the corner arcs and next to the goal posts,
just use the can by hand like a can of whipped cream. Hole
the can down and move the nozzle slightly to one side to discharge
the paint
When to stripe and how often.
- During the earlier part of the week, use your judgment,
if the lines are light, stripe.
- Ideally striping should be done on Friday evening in preparation
for Saturday games. Thursday evening will work as well. On Saturday
mornings grass can be wet from dew and can have a hard time with
paint.
- Get a parent to volunteer that is sitting on the sideline
during your practice.
- As per your team schedule, the early shaded team is
responsible for field striping for that entire week.
Corner Flags
- As per your team schedule, the early shaded team is also
responsible for putting up the corner flags on game day.
- The late shaded team on your schedule is responsible for
taking the corner flags down after their game.
